In 2022, Blockade undertook a multifaceted project at the Queens Road Garages in Wimbledon, focusing on enhancing site accessibility and facilitating subsequent demolition activities. This comprehensive project involved several key phases, including widening the access road, clearing rubbish, asbestos removal, and the full demolition of existing structures.
The project commenced with the critical task of widening the access road, essential for improving site logistics and ensuring safe vehicle movement. Blockade’s team worked efficiently to install a temporary surface, providing immediate access for ongoing operations and ensuring safety for all personnel involved.
Following the roadworks, the next phase involved thoroughly clearing rubbish from the garages. Blockade’s crew meticulously sorted through the debris, ensuring all waste was collected and removed in compliance with local regulations. This step was crucial for preparing the site for the following stages of work.
A significant aspect of the project was the asbestos removal process. Given the age of the garages, Blockade prioritised safety by implementing stringent protocols during this phase. The skilled team handled asbestos removal with the utmost care, ensuring all materials were disposed of correctly and according to health and safety regulations.
Once the asbestos had been safely cleared, Blockade completed the garage’s demolition, including removing all slabs.
