In 2018, Blockade was engaged to execute a comprehensive demolition project at Ryders Accident Repair Centre in Merstham, Surrey. This multifaceted project involved the installation of site hoarding, asbestos removal, and demolishing and dismantling of various industrial buildings, all while focusing on safety and environmental responsibility.
The project commenced with the installation of site hoarding around the premises. This was a crucial step in ensuring safety and security, protecting both the site and surrounding area during demolition. The hoarding helped to manage site access and minimise disruptions to nearby properties.
Following the successful hoarding installation, Blockade’s skilled team carefully removed asbestos. Adhering to strict health and safety regulations, this process was conducted meticulously to eliminate potential hazards, safeguarding workers and the environment.

Once the asbestos was removed, the focus shifted to demolishing and dismantling all industrial buildings on the site. This involved a systematic approach to ensure the structures were taken down safely and efficiently. Blockade also removed all existing slabs and footings, further clearing the area for redevelopment.
The project’s final phase included crushing all arisings and transforming the debris into reusable materials. This process minimised waste and contributed to the project’s sustainability by providing aggregates for future use.
