Since 2016, Blockade has been undertaking a long-term restoration project at South Godstone Quarry in Surrey. The project involves the comprehensive remediation and restoration of a partly backfilled clay quarry, transforming it to meet agreed-upon levels and environmental standards. This complex project is scheduled for completion in 2025.
The project’s first phase focused on the complete remediation of the quarry site. Blockade’s expert team worked meticulously to assess and address the existing conditions of the clay void, ensuring that all areas were stabilised and prepared for the next stage of restoration. Given the site’s environmental sensitivity, this phase required precision and adherence to regulatory standards.
Following remediation, Blockade began the ongoing process of restoring the clay void to the pre-agreed levels. This is achieved through careful backfilling, using strict compaction techniques to ensure the stability and durability of the restored land. Each phase of the restoration is monitored to maintain the highest standards of quality and compliance with environmental guidelines.
