In 2022, Blockade was entrusted with demolishing the iconic Limes Bistro in the heart of Charlwood, Surrey. This project required a delicate approach to preserve the local character while ensuring the safe and efficient dismantling of the building.
The project commenced with essential asbestos removal works, a critical step given the structure’s age. Blockade’s skilled team implemented stringent safety protocols to manage the hazardous material, ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. The careful removal of asbestos was paramount to protecting both the workers on site and the surrounding community.
Once the asbestos had been safely cleared, Blockade demolished the bistro, which featured a unique combination of wooden and brick construction. The team employed specialised techniques to dismantle the building, minimising disruption to the nearby environment and maintaining safety throughout the process.
The demolition phase involved careful planning to address the challenges presented by the structure’s mixed materials. Blockade ensured that all components were dismantled methodically, allowing for the efficient removal of debris while adhering to safety standards.
